As a husband and father, he poured his heart into his family with the same kindness, steadiness, and quiet strength that made him so beloved in our club. That same warmth carried into every day at the field, where his steady encouragement and welcoming nature made everyone feel at home. His presence was a quiet anchor for our community, and his spirit will continue to guide us in the skies he loved so much.

We will miss you, Bob.

Russell S. Levin passed away on 29 January 2026. He was a devoted father, a CCRCC member, skilled radio‑control model pilot , and a trusted subject‑matter expert for the United States Coast Guard — but anyone who knew him will tell you he was also one who enjoyed jokes and a laugh.

Both Russ and his son Saul flew with Doug from the Hobby Shop. Russ flew with skill and confidence of someone who understood both the art and the science of aviation. His experience and insight made him a natural mentor, and his patience made him a friend. Whether he was helping someone tune an engine, troubleshoot a tricky setup, or simply telling a joke, Russell brought a sense of calm capability that lifted everyone around him.

. His presence made the field more welcoming, more alive.

Russell’s legacy lives in the skies he loved, in the people he taught, and in the laughter, he left behind. We will miss him — his knowledge, his kindness, and the joy he carried with him everywhere he went.

Vincent R. Janes, Jr., passed away on 6 February 2026, known to so many simply as Vince, was an avid builder and flyer of radio‑controlled aircraft. Flight wasn’t just a hobby for him — it was a lifelong passion. As an airline pilot for Capital and Eastern Airlines, he lived his love of aviation at full scale.  As a husband and father, he carried the same steady warmth, patience, and devotion that he shared with all of us at the field.

To club members, he was more than a fellow flyer. He was a mentor, a craftsman, and a steady hand who kept the spirit of “old school” building alive.  We will miss his presence, his stories, his skill — and most of all, his friendship. The field won’t be the same without him, but the skies he loved will always carry a bit of his spirit.
